How to Vote in the SAV

Our strike authorization vote (SAV) opens today. A successful strike authorization vote (2/3rds of ballots cast) authorizes the bargaining committee to call a strike if Columbia fails to meet our demands at the bargaining table. A clear mandate for a strike is a powerful bargaining tool. The threat of the SAV has already strengthened the bargaining committee’s position at the table, compelling Columbia to return to open bargaining and withdraw proposed limitations on student worker attendance. Please vote, turnout matters!

Voting opens this morning––September 15th––at 9:00 AM ET and will close Monday, September 27th at 5:00 PM ET. You may vote either in person or online. If you vote twice (both in person and online) only the in-person vote will be counted.

  • In-Person Voting 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM: We will have a stationary ballot box at Nous Cafe in Philosophy Hall (and we are working at adding a box at Joe’s) as well as roaming ballot boxes throughout the university. If you’d like to help with in-person voting, sign up to volunteer respond to this email.

  • Online Voting: To vote online, check your email for your unique ballot from Election Buddy invitations@mail.electionbuddy.com. You may also receive a text message with a link.

Can’t find your ballot? Sign a Union Card here. Still can’t find it, or have another issue?  Email the election committee at swcelectionscomm@gmail.com. We will respond within 24 hours on weekdays.

In solidarity,

The SWC Elections Committee
