URGENT: Criteria To Receive Strike Pay

Dear SWC,


We are writing to remind you that in order to receive strike pay for the first weeks of our strike, you need to fulfill picket hours. To receive strike benefits, please fill out the request form by 11am, Wednesday, 11/17.

If you are on strike and have not, sign up for UAW strike funds ASAP to receive $275 for each week of the strike (including an extra $275 for the week of Thanksgiving, if the strike lasts that long). Shortly after signing up you should receive an email from “UAW Strike System <apache@my.uaw.org>”, directing you to a platform where you can submit your bank information in order to receive a direct deposit. Look in your spam!

You can only receive this pay if you spend 10 hours a week doing any of the following activities:

• joining the picket line

• doing strike related activities, including attending GBMs and bargaining sessions

• attending rallies

• attending organizing meetings

• attending other strike-related committee work. 

Please email columbiagradunion@gmail.com if you need an exemption. Remember to sign in and out of picketing activities, using either the form provided at the in-person picket desk, or in digital meetings, so that your hours can be counted. Hours are counted from Wednesday to Tuesday.
